my new b reg with 30k on an a very very mint shell only cost me 120, 12 months mot an tax. Think i should but it on ebay an see what i can get for it.
hmm it wont be a classic by free road tax standards in 2 years lol...
also correct me if im wrong but 1984 first reg + 23 years = 2007..... so how has it been on the same street for 23 years unless its really a delorean?

Its not overpriced if its as clean as he says. I'd rather spend 1k on a mint shell, than pay ?300 for a rotten one and have to spend 2k restoring it.
I paid ?980 for my untouched 1.2L, 1985, with 4536 genuine miles.

That should have side repeaters. My mate had a E reg nova in the same colour and it had side repaeaters there is also another one exactly the same going round near me with side repeaters. I think the year they brought in side repeaters was 1983 because all mk1 golfs didnt have side repeaters and the very early golf mk2s didnt. Plus it would only have one wing mirror like Phils coz it is the poverty spec nova. So it has either had a shunt or been restored. I think it has been restored because he seems to have a rough idea what a nova in that condition is worth to some people and it has had the inner arches painted.

don't mean to sound pedantic but do we need all these ebay links popping up in General? Can their be a forum created called ebay perhaps?
If i wanted to look for shells etc, i would look on ebay myself.
At least include ebay in the post title to warn

lol Ha ha ha
I'll consider that as a wrist slapping, I get what your saying matey and if I or sombody else was looking for "what appeared" to be a mint shell as a project i'd be chuffed to bits to stumble across this in the general post. Plus, It wasnt to advertise... Merely to say, Hey look i've found a mint example of a nova there are still some around.
So, in honesty it should belong in the General because its actually a general post about a nova which so happens to be on ebay.
But yes, Admin if poss would you kindly arrange for An ebay links section and also a newbie section oh and a new car section to stop posts like this reoccuring.

*Yawn* side repeaters are a requirement for Post 1986 vehicles only... incidentally, so is a hazard warning switch lol

what you trying to say, my new nova was made in 1984 when i was born lol
ste is right (as always)
shouldn't have side repeators
or rear belts
old type rear seat fixings
side strips on doors are rivit type
plus the head light switch is different which is most annoying as i need one
the early novas have fooking annoying noisy hand brakes which work with a slider on the rear beam aswell! bludi noisy. think there is something else aswell
oh and benji thats not brown lol this is brown

i saw the base bit of them mirrors down charlies then did abit of searching to find a pic and decided i wanted them but still canted find them :(. i did find a lovely little brown nova down the scrappy which i saved and sold to me mate who is now making it into a brown gte look alike :)
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/sclurgess/DSCN1076.jpg
it was a ?50 bargain which i so regret selling as its never had any welding, and doesnt need any. it failed the MOT on a rear shock and headlight alignment . i am a fool
*Yawn* side repeaters are a requirement for Post 1986 vehicles only... incidentally, so is a hazard warning switch lol
ARGHHHHHHHHH ffs lol its deffo 87 onwards for no side repeaters and no hazzard switch?
mind you ive drilled the hole in the ally for the hazzard switch :(. but ill just gromet up the holes in the wings for the repeaters lol.
Yup, I think its before April '86 repeaters/hazard not req'd, post April '86 they are; but I'll check when I get home.
You can get round the post-86 needing repeaters by mk2-ing the front end, however you will need a hazard switch function; according to the MOT guide.

you only need side repeaters after the cut-in date (198?) if you cfan't see the indicators clearly from the side of the vehicle, so as said mk2 front end = no need for repeaters.
Looks very tidy...
Mine looked like that tho, if i took the same pics of mine when i got it it would look the same condition, i bet theres some rust on it somewhere
I paid 500 for mine, with minimal rust, infact only 3 bits on the car were found
In fact in my first pics, it looks as good as that one...

Here we go:
Vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1986:
These must be fitted with one side repeater indicator on each side. Instead of a separate lamp, the side repeater might be part of the front direction indicator if it includes a wraparound lens.
Check that the hazard warning device is present, secure and operates using only one switch with the ignition switched both on and off. While it operates, check that all the direction indicators flash simultaneously and the 'tell-tale' (i.e. audable indicator) is working correctly.
Acceptable wrapround lens marking:
Lamps incorporating a side repeater are marked either with an 'E' mark in a circle or an 'e' mark in a rectangle above which is a number 5. Some vehicles are fitted with a wraparound lens with no European approval markings. These can be tested by standing approximately 1000mm to the side of the vehicles rear bumper with indicator on. If amber light can be seen coming through the front lens (not a reflection) this is acceptable.
Vehicles first used before 1 April 1986:
A hazard warning device is not required by Regulation, but, if one is fitted, it must be tested.
The hazard warning lamp 'tell tale' may be a separate light or the same as the indicator 'tell-tale. However, it must be a flashing light.
Incidentally, for the post-April '86 vehicles, it also says you can fail if the hazard warning lights have more than one switch to activate them!
argh, so ill have to put a fcuking buzzer in to make it aubable. FFS lol
Hire an illegal to say "ping" when the buzzer shoudl be on. Probably cheaper.
Get him to run alongside then
