Maybe not as some people may perceive it but anyway...

I have my new tyres on my SR, Yoko A539 and boy do they grip, i know htey are good coz my dad had them before on his cav. Not really bedded in yet so more good stuff to come i hope but upto now im impressed

Now for a suspension kit to compliment them if anyone has any tips, was thinking about bilstein sprintlines

yoko's a539 are cool.

the only down side is, if you treat them mean. they die quickly.
i swapped my dunlop p9000 fronts to the rear and yoko's to the front. and found the yoko's weren't as good.
and drive slow in the wet. remember they are a performance dry tire and not wet.

I know they are not as good in the wet, the old A520 was but not so much on the A539, and i do need to watch my driving as they are soft tyres 8)

Andy they are on the steelies yes, size is 185/55/14 and i will be more cautious in the wet, although if i could handle my old tyres in the wet i think i should be ok...

careful in the wet they do not grip in the wet!

LOL, How do you know?

I've had A539's and found they were ok in the wet. Also, I found they lasted for a decent amount of time. I guess it depends on how you drive the car though.

on the Lo-Cost (well ok high cost) race car at uni we ran A539's and they were attrocious in the dry but did very very well in the wet........ very odd.

track tyres are what you need ;) A032/A048's not massively expensive either (well ok double the price of your regular 14" tyre but ?75 a go is still cheap imo

Because Sean said so... already

My mate has just gone from Toyo T1S's (they lasted about 3,500 miles lol) then to T1R's and just swapped his wheels for some fitted with Yoko A539s. He drives like a lunatic at the best of times and he seems to prefer the grip of the Yokos, reckons they're better in the wet than the Toyos...

I'm more than happy with my Eagle F1s 8) Plenty of grip in both wet and dry, but still lets you swing the rear out on roundabouts *ahem* :o

Well they are good in the dry already, and they aint even worn in the slightest yet, i remember my dads cav being pretty good in the wet with them, but then thats a totally different car isnt it

Because my bro had them on his nova and u dont need to be driving to feel the back end step out from you. Happened on more than one occansion and we werent even taking the corner fast. :o

Well i just swaped my fronts from yoko A539's to toyo t1s's,on the front and can say that the grip i have had out of them so far is just amazing compaird to the yoko's,i still have yoko's on the rear though, and yet to try it in the rain, lol maybe i should go out now,as i know with yokos on and a xe in there on "semi-perfomence susspension" they wer simply shit in the wet,ok mainly understeer due to the engine wieght and poor front shocks,so i wonder what the toyos will do in the wet with coilovers?

As for softness they seam to me to be about the same compound really

I went from the same tyre as yourself, but have found the Toyo T1's are a lot softer than the A539's were.

I guess it's possible the A539's varied over time, the set I had on my car were a few years old (I didn't do much mileage on them which is why the lasted so long, lol) so maybe over time Yokohama changed the tyre slightly which is why there are a lot of differences of opinion on how the tyre performed.

The real bad thing is i need to sort my camber on my coilovers quick,or i will have wasted my money on them, but i dont entend on driving it too much, just need to fix my van brakes.

I definately prefer the toyo's to the Yokes, but they dont take serious abuse (llandow managed to destroy 3 tyres, each one when it was on the o/s/f). The wet grip you get from them is pretty good too.

Might have to try some A032's.
