i think my auto choke is knackered, when i go to start the car when its cold i have to keep my foot on the accelater or it will just cut out, then once ive had it on for 30 secs or whatever its fine goes down to about 800 rpm then gradualy works its way up to 1000rpm is this because of my auto choke not working properly?

cheers

depends what engine it is

only 1.3 and 1.4 SR's have autochoke

1.2's have manual choke and injected models have a idle control valve that does the job for you

if it IS a 1.3 or 1.4sr then u prolly find the autochoke is duff and you'll need a new carb

Weber 32/34 is manual choke and would be a good upgrade. Afaik the manual choke cable from a 1.2 should suffice.

quite often pop up on ebay, or you may be lucky at a local scrapyard?

2nd hand prices usually range from ?30-75 but thats usually for just the carb body itself, i.e. no throttle linkages or inlet manifolds etc

how much r all the linkages? and manifold? what cars r they usually on?

Your best bet would be to look on here and MIG for a 32/34, with the adaptor plate, linkage, filter etc.
Usually get the lot for about ?80ish.

there were a few in the parts for sale section on here. I've just done this to mine as my carb was fudged. Much better afterwards great throttle response n the performance can be quite worrying at times
