i brought this kit from tuning.co.uk
DCOE Twin Carb Linkage Kit
http://www.tuning.co.uk/vauxshop/media/Linkage.jpg
So you've got your manifold on the engine, your carbs on the manifold and your filters on the carbs - all you need now is to connect it all to the throttle pedal and away you go! This kit includes all the parts you'll need

and this is what i got!

i got that, two cables and a small metal block!

im going to type of the instuctions fully!

'the linkage mounts on a single carb, but can also be used to operate a pair of carbs. inorder to accommodate inlet manifolds on which the carbs are positioned very close to each other, the stirrup plate is cut away to accommodate the synchronising screw on the adjacent carb.
the linkage has been designed to maintain a low overall hight and protrudes barely 1/2" above the exsting hight of the carbs.
The torsion throttle spring has fatigue tested to many hundreds of thousands of full thorttle cycles to prove its reliablity.
Two positions are provided in cast aluminium throttle quadrant for (something) the cable bar to provide two ratios of the throttle/pedal stroke.

THROTTLE PEDAL:
remove the throttle pedal and cut off just enough from the top to enable the pedal adaptor to fit onto it. Tighten the grub screw onto the pedal, Ideally the throttle cable should run at the same height as the orginal installation. The bulkhead must now be drilled to take two bulkhead fittings using a 5/16" dia drill. Drill the holes at the same spacing as those in the pedal adaptor and at an avarage height of the pedal during its travel. Care whould be taken when drilling these holes becasue if the are mispositioned excessive cable flexing will occour which will ruduce the cable life. Route the cables around the engine compartment in the most direct route avoiding sharp bends, and cut the outercable to lenght. Fit the ferrule to the ends cut ends of the outer cable. Thread the inner cables through the pedal adaptor and the outer cables. Snap the bulkhead fittings into the drillied holes-once fitted these cannot be removed.

INSTALLATION:
The lever on your carb will ether be a ball pin or a lotus lever type. If it is of the ball pin type, remove the level and drill out the ball pin from the back using a 3/16" dia drill.
if its a lotus level type, cut off the outer loop and use the adaptor as show in the drawing. Becarefull to assemble the bushes, washers ect in the correct order. The wavy washers prevent vibration of the stirrup plate. Assemble the complete linkage and test for smooth operation by hand before fitting the cables.
Ensure that the cableshafts rotates freel in the cast aluminum quadrant when finally assembled. Periodically lubricate the Linkage with engine oil.

I mean WFT i have to cut and drill the carbs and drill my car, is that right :? [/img]

only use one cable.. 2 means you wont get full throttle due to maladjustmnet nad differnet amounts of stretch.

the part with spring mounts on gearbox side carb, other on other carb.

but if i were you id remove them and fit them to carbs on bench as you will notice silly things that need mods- eg idle bracket housing on one carb will have to be cut off.

it all depends if carbs have been used on fwd j series before

speak for yourself lol

The twin cable setup for me personally has been fine, i have adjusted and set my own cables on a few occasions and i'm no spanner monkey. full throttle has never been a problem.

Originally when i fitted my carbs for a first time i did bench mount them and did find some minor modification was needed.

in time.. normally within one rally i see on cars that one cable stretches more than the other.

i can usually find power on the rollers from it.

what have i to gain by saying something like that if i dont follow my own advice.

my comment was in jest lol, nothing meant by it  .

i last set my twin linkage in july '04 and as my results from may proved full throttle was still not an issue as a car of my spec is in fairness at its peak or there abouts considering the engine hasnt been tuned for 2 1/2 yrs

Unfortunatley as with a few topics my experiences and results have defied what everyone believes or have experienced themselves so often is the case if i speak up on my findings i can tend to disagree or try to put a different light on a subject. Its nothing personal lol, a few have laughed at my findings, then when they have witnessed what i have tried to explain it becomes clear to them or confuses them more lol
