my nova 2.0 16v xe 1991 revs really fast, i cant understand why,

any ideas

Idle control valve gets sticky, take it out and give it a clean with some carb cleaner.

have you only just put the engine in, or has it been fine in the car?

Have you checked for air leaks / perished vacuum tubes etc...

its started doin it after i took the manifold off and cleaned it, airflow meter is new aswell

in that case, check all the connectors you removed, check youve plugged everything in that you removed properly and check that you have replaced the air inlet pipe and vacuum pipes correctly and not damaged them. If you have your old airflow meter, try plugging that back in if it was ok, just cos its new, doesnt always mean its a worker.
