View Full Version : Bonnet Skin
Hi, Has anyone on here got one of these skins fitted to their cars, if so can i see the pics.
How would you open the bonnet after fiting one of these skins?
Does the bonnet cover too much of the light (is it illegal?)
What do you lot think??

dont even bother getting one from this guy. i did and its the worst quality you'll even see.
Its made to stick on your existing bonnet skin (its not a full skin as advertised, its just the top part).
The extended bit on the one i got was wonky and stuck in on one side.
There were a few dints in the thing and also a lot of ripples which are caused by the resin curing too quickly when it was made- indicating that these are rushed.
There were chips all over (not the potato variety!) and shattered bits on the side due to it being packed in single sheet of cardboard that didnt even cover the whole thing.
The matting hasnt been applied evenly thus making it thicker in some parts than others which means that when its bonded on the whole skin needs a skimming of filler to level it off.
basicly it takes more work to fit one from this guy than to fit the vent and extent it yourself

I got 1 from the guy. It was the full skin, and it looked OK. There was some paint bubbles on it at the sides, but apart from that it was OK. I must of been lucky (kinda). :)
Also - My slam pannel was fooked anyway, so i used bonnet pins. All i had 2 do was undo them an lift it up. Real security eh? so i dont know how you would open it. Maybe extend the opener thing and cut a hole in the grille for it?
^ tis the QC bonnet skin, find it new on www.quadconversions.com
Its nice, but i dont like the vent in it. I want an Eyebrow like that but i also wany it with a bulge instead of a vent.

Hi my girlfriend bought me 1 i have fitted in now but beware dont use the bonding gear that comes with it it sets in 5 mins and it took me 30mins to put it on!!!!! i used windscreen sealer and lots and lots of clamps to hold it down as it was slightly warped also the front lip needs smoothing off as it scraped the Grill. Ali
Apart from all that the service was good it came in only 2 days!!!
i bought one of those from the same guy and to be fair it was a bit bent :? but after riveting all around the edge and adding some metal rods to the front it is perfect but i then had to skim filler over all the rivets its a job for a bodyshop really hope this helps

koolyou got a pic of your nova with that grill and you sellin any other parts?
Nope, never got round to fitting it in the end. Sold both my novas back near the start of the year, and got rid of all the spare parts by about July either by selling or chucking out. Except for the Astra side repeaters which are now on my celica
