big speed bump/gearbox fluid

i hit a speed bump a little fast yesterday as i did not see it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! found my splitter on the road an easy fix but i also found what i think is the gearbox fluid filler cap it is a cap with a long peice of plastic comming off it with a cold fill line and hot fill line on it. i cannot see where it goes so can some one point me in the right direction and also i drove the car home last nite without it will i need to refil it at all??

if you mean the crap cap that sits on top of where you fill it with fluid then you dont really need it, ive never had one on mine.
