thinking of buying a nova please help

hi there could anyone help me out .I was looking at a car today and I took the oil cap of and theres white stuff inside of it and old hard oil there is well Im I better to walk away from it ???could it be the head gasket???could any one please help me out thanks

Could be the Gasket, but if the cars Cheap enough and its in good enough nick, i say buy it. Engines aren't hard to find and pretty straight forward to fit, but. i still reckon you wanna go look at a few others before you decide mate.

hard oil tends to point to lack of servicing

if the cars perfect and cheap then i'd buy it and swap the motor

Mayonaise on the cap indicates water in the oil, most of the time its HG, but if its been say for ages, could be condesation, but if its really glooped up this is unlikely.
