I'm having some trouble removing the standard headunit. I have the fascia off and am trying to remove the unit from the mounting frame. Haynes says to

Depress the spring clips securing the unit to the mounting frame and withdraw...

Is the copper coloured bit the mounting clip? If so do I push it in with the unit or out towards the mounting frame? Not sure how it works :?

if its the orginal HU like you say it is!

it might be bolted into the dash still!

take out your glovebox and have a look, or if you have small girlish hands you could try and feel it?

Ah ha my small and girlish hands are useful for once :D

The glovebox is out already, but I can't really see any bolts attaching it to the dash. Peering down in to it however, it does look like a screw is attached through the unit on the right side. How would I get to that?!

IF there is a bolt/screw, it will be on the base of the unit, so you will most likeyl have to get your hand down there anyway

oh look dan16v im posting helpfull posts! i dont talk crap all the time! :wink:

Okay I've poked around... The silver unit is screwed to the black metal frame inside the dash. I guess I'll need to remove the lot as one?

Edit: Job done, thanks for the help

heres a novel idea;

buy a set of pullers! you can see the holes for the pins to go in on your pics and they would have been easier to see if you hadnt ripped the front off. the pullers are similar as described above. like a u shape made out of metal like coat hanger wire with some tiny hook things on the end. slip em in, push slightley to each side and pull.

simple as that.
