i guess ur friend is running a 2.0 16v?? so the answer is; drop urself in a 2.0 16v. Nice accurate speeds there; 142mph, and 116mph..
I dont think a std engined (or tuned for that matter) gte nova 1.6 will muster over 140mph, the f13cr gearbox they came with is too short, high revs.

a gsi nova as standard maxes out at 135mph due to the rev limiter

and it will get there, but it'll only get there down a loooong hill flat to the boards for about 10 minutes

if the roads flat or uphill i doubt u;d get much over 120

You're as bad as scott when it comes to loving your car...give it a rest  :P

For the record, your mate may have a dodgy speedo. I went in a 5 speed 1.3 Nova that was clocking 110mph in 4th, lol. His speedo was just a tad out, hehe.

must be the speedo mate, i got a pic of mine doing 120mph odd, and it hit the limiter showing 125mph. its a 1.2i with a 4 speed box!. when i posted the pic up alot of people said that the speedos arnt right accurate over a certain speed. so the best thing to do is get it on a strip and time it properly.

My 2.0 does over 150mph

I bought a 500 Quid 530i BMW that did that and more.

This is about Novas. Mate. It would cost a fortune to tune the engine to reach that, just drop a bigger one in, or race him round a twisty road and his car will break with the chassis twist!!

iv had my lil 1.2i to 120 on the clock but i no for a fact it wasnt doin this lol does any 1 know when the accuracy is out and how to tell or alter this???

Jack

Usually anything over 60-70mph tends to be much more inaccurate than speeds below that. Yeah, my 4spd 1.2 did 120 apparently as well lmfao, I reckon Vauxhall made the speedos on 1.2's inaccurate on purpose

Best way to tell would be to get a GPS device that can measure your speed - some mobile phones and PDAs can do this, or I think Road Angel can as well?

or measure your wheel radius with a tape measure, then find out precisely what your FD is, then get an accurate rev counter (jims overreads by about 500ish rpm at 7K) then take the car out to what you belive to be max speed.

tell me the revs, FD, gear cluster, and wheel radius and i shall tell you your top speed.

my bro's had his 1.2i on the rev limiter in 4th which is 115mph

its not exactly your standard 1.2i tho seen as his peak power is at the rev limiter and standard 1.2is drop off at 5000rpm

ive had a standard 1.2i at 5600rpm down quite a long hill which is about 100-105mph

speedo was showing about 120 at 5600rpm and 130 at 6200rpm (115mph) tho

My 1200i 5spd would do 100mph, MAX with three in and a set of 16's on it. It was bog standard and had only 55k on the clock. Would like to think that it would have been a bit faster than that.

well seen as the book figure on them is 95 and my 105mph was managed on really hilly stretch of the m6, 100isnt really that bad

How many max power stickers has your mate got?

I'd try and double up with the Fast and furious ones to be honest.
