tapping

i have a very annoying tapping noise coming from the head of my engine anyone got any ideas and also when the car is ticking over there is a very slight knocking noise that sounds tinny???????????????????

tapping is the lifters, they get manky and make a racket.
either replace or put up with it

the knocking seems more sinister. bottom end ;)

For the knocking listen under the sump for a deep underwater knock.

Mine is doing the same noise at the minute :?
could do with finding a bottom end hanging around somewhere :lol:

where can i get some lifeters from and how much

check oil/ oil pressure too - I was told that if insuffient oil in engine it will tap.

Also - in the cold you may get slight tapping noise until engine warms up.
