Hi don't get me wrong I know how turbos, how work N have a jap turbo import as well as my nova!

But have got myself a problem in that have a T3 sitting around gathering dust!
If I made manifold, down pipe, boost pipes etc.....how would I get it all to run? I'm guessing these things don't run themselfs! :?

Another problem is that I want to run it on my 1300 lump with twin 40's is this possible as I know R5 turbos are carb'ed so guessing it must be!
Is there any one who has done this to a 1.2 or 1.3 out there or any peeps who think they can help in the build :? :o  ?

Not a cost exercise just want something different from a 2.0 turbo lump!

Can this be done peeps??????

first off all!

T3 wont fit in the engine bay, you need a T2

you wont be able to run twin 40's

theres two ways of building it the cheap way, compresson plate, or the proper way, lower comp pistons

You would need a sealed carb like the ones off a 5 turbo, and a manifold for it to fit the nova and then set up for you engine. Or the injection route, which done properly would need after market engine management and various intake and feuling bits added/upgraded. There were a fair few old cars that ran turbos through a carb, i think volvo made one, but they are seen as dangerous depending on the way it works as some drag the fuel air mixture throught the turbo i think. Which can go bang.

Search the forum as this comes up so often it get's boring! and you CAN fit a T3 in the engine bay as thats what I had on my 1.6 8V Turbo, so people saying you can't should actually check these things before commenting!

Also you can run twin 40's with a turbo, but they have to be sealed to stop the fuel being pushed out of the carbs when on boost. The old Lotus Espirit from the 80's used a set of twin 40 Dellortos in this configuration.

To be honest you'd be best off going and getting a book and reading about turbo systems, you'd get alot more information than just asking in this forum, as 90% of the turbo 8v Novas have been done the same way, using standard Vaux management with a pressure switch to put more fuel in when on boost. A bodge, but it's what courtenay used and people have stuck with it as it's a cheap quick solution. If you want to see an example of a turbo conversion done correctly go look for Neil's red GTE in the features section.

Cheers dude you've been most helpfull!
Unlike some out there!

Oh & I thought that the t3 would cause just held it just above standard manifold bout 4 hours ago and preseted me with no real prob's!

How would one go about sealing them up!what would be involved?

Might have to get my ass to next show for some help!

Well Done Chris. Everything you said was spot-on. Surely that all needs to be made sticky. It would save a lot of questions and wrong answers.

This has been covered many times in a few different topics:

Have a read through, and if you have more questions I'll see what I can do. Still got my turbo books around somewhere.
