i have been offered a 1.4sr engine n box for peanuts n was wondering wat else i need to put it in my 1.2? drive shafts etc. and also does anyone no of an insurance company that will insure my cae with a diff engine cuz mine say its a modification n they wnt insure it!!!!! thanx
The engine will bolt straight in, engine mounts, gearbox, drives, everything.
Change the engine, and insure it as a 1.4 Saloon, shouldn't be any problem. Lots of saloons came in 1400 Form so dont worry.

wont the insurance know ive changed the engine when i tell them the reg number?
you also need the 1.4 dizzy and coil as there not the same on a 1.2

Dont think so, i've still the 12i set up on my 1400, starts and drives, not really that well, but it goes!!
have you got a 1400i though because if its a carb engine you WILL need the dizzy and coil

Change it with DVLA first then. Or, get an online quote - often these allow you to put the reg number in then change the details of the car if its not right.
Anyway, its still a modification so playing by the book you should insure it as a modified 1.2 saloon.

No, its a SPI ported head, 270deg cam and a 14sr Carb, it ran shit and wouldn'y idle, but i reckon thats due to the head and cam combo.
