Hi guys fitted my 32/34 Weber and now its running a bit rough and lumpy. Could this be due to me needing to set mixture and idle speed etc?

need car for 2moro morning so its quite urgent

Also when you close the choke the revs rise :?

as ste said, an RR tune would be ideal.

however, a good professional setup by a webber expirienced mechanic would be adequate

If i had a quid for everytime iv rang the boss up and said *cant make it 2day coz my nova is broken* i be loaded..........acctually its never broken down i jst play with it to make it faster and then it dont work again.

sounds like mixture is too rich, and idle is to fast.

Sorted something out, the throttle cable was sticking. It now is set to idle at about 800revs but when you close the choke it rises.

When the choke is on (plenum open) it idles ok ish but thats coz i had to set idle mixture etc.

Not too sure what im doing really iv done it best i can but gonna go to carb specialist place

All i know is its bloody quick now and its running rough still

Cheers for your help guys ill let you know how i get on

if it rises when turning the choke off then its running far too rich

was the carb off a similar engine?

sounds like the idle jets are specced waay to high, but u might get away wiht just adjusting it up

a weber specialist should be able to work out the correct jets for your engine capacity and spec and ensure these are fitted and that the cars setup correctly

Have you got a Fuel pressure refulator and is it set to 3psi?

If using the mechanical pump alone then it will flood the float chamber and send petrol pouring down the inlet manifold and into the cylinder.

mech pump is fine if used with weber T or 13sr vapor sep

i used it with t-piece and was still flooding float chamber.

Maybe float needle was too sensitive, don't know.

But i would definatly recommend getting a fuel pressure regulator. You can get a fuel king for ?25 and then you know its getting the exact right pressure.

It was off Baxters 1300 SR, mind you that was modified quite a bit. I booked it into RPL near me they are weber carb specialists

Do you have a fuel pressure regulator for your fuel supply?

You need to buy an adjustable FPR so you can set the fuel pressure to suit the carb. Else you might be flooding it at the minute without one.

lol
Yeah, if its connected into the cam carrier, its your fuel pump.

thats the problem. The pump is pumping fuel in at 6-8psi and is flooding the carburettor/engine.

You need a fuel pressure regulator to bring the pressure down to 3psi.

they do them. I got a fuelking one and never looked back.

I had this problem when I fitted my weber to my 1.4. Was lumpy as fcuk and idled rough and wouldnt accelerate - but when it did god it flew!

Worked out I was getting a big air leak on the intake manifold - manifold had previously been removed by garage (Vauxhall) and they'd refitted the bolts back to front - apparantly theyre short thread on one end and long thread on the other - got them back to front. Ended up having to get a new manifold). Dunno if it fixed the prob though coz the following week took the car off the road for rebuild - that was 2 yrs ago

:D

Rolling road will sort it - weber specialist will set you right.

Ahh cheers Nathan. Might have to do that before i take it to be set up. Anybody know if a carb place would sell them anyway coz if so i can tell them to put one on while they set it up
