View Full Version : Opening bonnet without cable?
I have a slight problem with the cable and its become slack, but I can't get in the bay to put it back again.
Now how do I open it from underneath? I don't want to have to remove the grille or anything like that.

if you dont wanna remove the grill then get under the engine (maybe put the car on ramps or axle stands to give you a bit more room) then reach up a grap the release cabel which is underneith the slam panel and yank it.
or you could have a mess about with the bonnet release handle in the car and try to get it tighter.
I'll get underneath it and pull it.
Cheers just wanted to check

the rads in the way if u go underneath
the grill needs to come off, if its a mk2 item you should be able to do it without damaging it, mk1 wont tho
I've always used a spoke from a bike wheel (or a piece of wire) poke it through the slats in the grill up in to the slam panel, hook the cable then give it a pull, jobs agood un !!

Big fucking screwdriver up the hole in your front bumper and push the latch spring out of the way

get a thin screwdriver between the top of your grill and bottom of bonnet and push the spring back and it should pop.
Done it, can see the release bit where the cable connects to from underneath, got my dad to gently push down on the bonnet while I pushed the it with a long screwdriver.
Fixed it now so can open it with cable again
Cheers for the help.
