well to pass its next mot it wants patches in the boot some work on the chassis legs and repairs to the floor aswell, plus the arches are starting to go again. i may do it when my eyes get better lol. and the best thing to do is to come and have a look at it or me come to you and see what you think. it still aint finished yet though

i'm going to be very disliked here but at PVS i saw something VERY VERY rare, being a Nova Spider, yet lurking under the bonnet and mad wide arches was a LET lump, my 1st response was WHY?? rare as fook car over here and dump an engine that could lead to its death... but dam you could feel your hair being torn out at 140+ MPH

i say good on ya fella. if it was on its way out then take it out in style!

Moral of the story...... Each to thier own!

The difference is with the Sport Sprint is that it's a rare car that's been made even rarer with a Sprint kit, the Let, 17"s and FMIC in a chopped bumper are controversal and not to everyone's taste, and to be honest it'd look good either with more traditional wheels/front bumper/engine or with what it has now, Burgo's ruined SR now looks 10 times worse than if it'd been left in one piece, plus the bits that are rotten and need welding for the MOT are still there and still need welding so nothing has been gained, this could of been done to any Nova yet it's been done to a very rare and early SR which I just think is a bit of a shame.

what is all the fuss about? he turned a shed of a brown nova into something a little different before it gets scrapped.

Realistically how many people on here would have bought that car and restored it back to concours condition? it would have had a GTE kit or a mk2 facelift and gsi kit with some speedlines on it and then been left to rot slowly.

All the bumpers are still on it, you could always take those and slap some brown paint on another mk1 and get a nice brown mk 1 sr(which I think looks pants, just my opinion though)

mad-driver
30-06-05, 04:37 PM
a nice brown

I think the term you are looking for is "Turd Brown" :D

Natch, I'd have left it as is in terms of bodykit-ness - I love that front bumper. The only changes I'd have made would be to perhaps update the interior or respray in black (not a fan of "turd brown" lmao)

VERY VERY BAD CHOICE OF CAR

burgo
30-06-05, 06:25 PM
the only other thing i could of done to this car was if i had restored it to concours condition, but to do that it would need re-shelling which i can still do f i want, but basically the car was a shed that is about to fall apart so i made it a kool shed. plus im loving the reaction im getting everywhere i go so i have no regrets at all

30-06-05, 07:06 PM
what the feck are you lot on about. its a turd brown bag of shit rotten SR, why not do something different to it like this, i would have done anyday,

at least it gets looks now and a little respect from people. rather than EVERYONE looking at it and saying ''what a bag of shit brown nova''

mate if i were you i would tidy up the rust and get a few choice mods on there, wheels gte kit etc. would look the dogs like that

Nick
30-06-05, 07:06 PM
for christ sake, it was rotten and brown - so he turned it into a pickup.

if your really really really feel strongly about "ruining" a brown mk1 SR then go spray your pride and joy brown and downgrade it to an SR (or upgrade)

I'd be very surprised at the amount of "fantastic" novas that are actually the same car they rolled out of the factory as.

Plus, hundreds of mk1 SR's, mk2 SR's, GSi's GTE's get sticked into trees by chavs, surely aren't they major culprits in killing the "rare" nova population ?

Ste L
30-06-05, 07:12 PM

Its not the fact it was brown, as I said thats one of the things I'd change lol... to me its the fact its a nice example (on the outside!) of an original Nova SR - how many A reg SR's do you see around and about? I'm also a big fan of the one-piece bumper and grille, and would happily have traded either of my old novas for one in that style, even if it was an A-reg rust bucket lol

SKoob
30-06-05, 09:10 PM
:o um............................................
what a waste in my opinion. I mean nova pickups are good and all, but could of chosen a more suitable candidate, not a rare nova like that, was proper tidy aswell :(
I take it you'll be spraying it a different colour and mk2'ing it next?

well go and turn another mint mk1 shell into the burgo brown replica.

at the end of the day the sills and arches wern't orgiinal, and every SR mk1 shell that rolled out of the factory is the same underneath it's bumpers and paintwork.

burgo
30-06-05, 11:20 PM
no its staying brown all the bumpers are staying the only thing that is happening to it now is finish off the back, lower it and get a leather type cover made for the back. ive even left the dent in the tailgate as its part of the car imo. i onistly think though if you all saw it in real life none of you could say it isnt kool

m.d.
30-06-05, 11:23 PM
yeah i think its class tho, only thing i would say is that with the tailgate welded on it avoids the point of it being a pick up cos you cant empty it,

would have been a good idea to get some hinges on it.

Rick Draper
30-06-05, 11:47 PM
I dont see what the problem is. It was a brown car, it deserved having this done to it or scrapping. Someone would only have crashed into you at the shock of seeint a turged brown car on the road.

Also Robs spider needed all that doing to it. Looks 100% better for it and when it looks like this the engine, kit and 17's sort of almost make you excuse it looking worse than a convertable new mini or beetle, but not quite:

Saying that tho fella, I scrapped a 1300 sr in yellow because it was rottern so i guess you at least did somthing with it as opposed to just scrapping it.

Now, If this was a sport... (which is isnt i know) that would of been a whole different story.

lmao @ Burgo Brown

My thoughts were though that at the end of the day it is an A reg SR; although you could make a newer E or F reg SR the same, it wouldn't be an A reg SR. It'd be like me adding all the extra bits on my faff to make it a WRC - its not got the chassis number of the WRC so isn't a 'true' one.

To be fair it has grown on me a lot after looking at it again, and although my first impressions were :o lol, I do like converted pickups, and I'm starting to like this one... and as rexy said, at least he'd done something with it rather than scrap it
