I'm planning on buying a Vauxhall Cavalier Turbo 4x4. I got a very good quote on one and now am gunna buy one. Problem is I have no idea where to start... What is a good price for one?, what do I need to look out for when it comes to problems, what is a good cavalier etc.

Can you give me a hand anyone please.

Go to www.migweb.co.uk and search for tips on buying a cav turbo. There was a really good guide on a while ago. Described how to test the gear box and how to check all the electrics are working. I think it's a guide for a calibra but both are similar cars just different shells. Bodywork wise the same applies to cavaliers as does novas.

?2000 - 3000 is a decent price, that should get you a pretty solid one, and yea transfer box is a weak point on thrashed cars especially. get it checked out by a mechanic and also get it HPI'd before parting with your money

They are exactly the same andy, just different bodies, thats why they are both as popular, they have a brilliant chassis

The chassis is only brillant if it hasnt rusted or seen any welding. Theyt do handle well though, but id rather have the engine in a nova.

True, but they are not as prone to rust as Nova's. Yes they do rust but they are a more solid car. Engines live for ever too if they are looked after. My dads had 200,000 on the clock

then went bang lol

You cant knock vauxhall engines. They go for ever if looked after. Why couldnt vauxhall use the same effort as they did with the engines with the bodywork

You cant always have everything, although it would be nice on the odd occasion

Anyway this topic has gone way off course...
