i am swapping the engine and gearbox from my 1.2i and putting in a 1.4sr engine and gearbox, does anyone know of any problems i might run into or got any tips/ advice? someone told me something about it not going into 5th gear? also does anyone know the compression ratio i'd get if i put the 1.2 head on the 1.4 block? cheers.

The 1.2i head is crap flowing.
Do you mean a 1.2i head or a 1.2carb head, as they are very different.

Just swap everything from the 1.4sr, gearbox, coil etc.
Wiring it should be easy as its carb so not many wires to connect.

its a 1.2i head, i heard the 1.4 sr head had crap flow and the 1.2 head had better flow plus giving it a higher compression ratio?

Don't fit a 1.2i head, stick with the 1400SR head.
You can fit a 1200carb head, or 1300 head, but that involves swapping inlet manifolds etc as well.

the 1.2i head is different to the 1.2 carb head.
The 1.2i is the same bad flowing head design as the 1.4sr, whereas the 1.2 carb is better with the same design inlet ports as the 1.3sr (cathedral shaped)
