Horrible Noise

Hi guys there is a horrible noise coming from the left hand side of the engine near the alternator, its a constant noise which does'nt get louder when you rev it or drive it someone has told me it might be the cam bearings? anyone got any suggestions its a nova 1.4 its had a new alternator and belt and thought it might be too tight?

could be lots of things, what sound is it? grinding? or drone? water pump maybe.

i had similar problem on my 1.2, the bottem end practically collapesed, so ive fitted a 1.2 corsa in, i fixed everything in the top end of the car, cam, lifters etc.... but nothing, so my suggestion is, dont spend a penny till u know wat it is, otherwise get rid quick(engine tht is) lol
