get it done, it can only get worse and eventually something nasty will happen. (seizure, welding inself into the hub e.t.c)

your looking at about ?30 for a good garage price. Unfortunatly you really need a hydraulic press to press the bearing in evenly and perfectly, otherwise it'l throw itself out again.

The back ones on the otherhand are a DIY job.

you dont need a press at all guys- putting the bearing back in is the easy bit..........it'll just tap down in quite easily if u use your old bearing as a 'drift' or punch..........

the big problem is usually getting the old bearing out----even with a press sometimes.

there is an easier way 2 do this though

just ask :D

yer i had a rear one going and i put it off, and put it off...

eventually it welded itself onto the stub axel, and i had to fork out for a new drum, stub axel and bearing, so you may as well get it over and done with.

Make sure he presses them in, as hitting them with a peice of wood is never going to be 100%.

i allways used to use a feck big vice to press them in with, using the remains of the old one as spacers. to get the old ones out, most I did had a circlip at either side of the bearing, so i'd take them both out after poping the drive flange out with the vice, and hacksaw though the outer race which would leave it nice and loose. geting the inner race off the drive flange is a bitch of a job though without the right bearing puller- one trick we used was carefully grinding the inner race untill it baecame weak enough to chisel off.
