You do not have to do anythink but fit a timer as long as you are not runnig a lot of compresion.
ARP bolts allways helps

a progressive controller.

colder spark plugs
make sure the HT system is in good nick (ie new leads etc)

or if you ahve a dizzy car (ie not an xe) then you need to retard the timing by a few degrees.

ARP bolts are only gonna help if your revving it more

power doesnt affect rod bolts, rpm does

however a 100k set of standard rod bolts are already on their limit at the standard 6800rpm limiter so if u plan to go there a lot they are always a good idea

i would have to say if ur were running 25-50bhp shot, then the aboves with arp bolts; higher heat plugs, all new ignition parts wud be fine. More power and the limits of old, untouched-for-years innards , i dont think would cope as well with such an increase.

just buy a spare engine and gas her up, only one way to find out what it can take, bobfidh ran 75bhp through his 1.4 and melted a valve twice i think

if he melted valves then it wasnt set up right imo

the 1400 block would take 140bhp just fine in standard trim so its probably been leaning out and thats whats killed it

peester it need COLDER plugs due to the extra heat generated by the n2o so detonation isnt a worry.

rexy find the DIy site and get that slut nitroused lol

normally the coding on the plug

lets say standard plug is a BKR7X, a BKR6X may be a colder one, or BKR7Y might be colder for example,

would depend on manufacturer etc but generally there are 3 parts to the model number, size/thread, gap, temperature, not neccesrily in that order either again would depend on the manufacturer
