Hi, i am looking to buy a 1.4 SRI, and want to know the price people are paying , how old people are and who the insurance is with.
I am 18 and tried Direct Line for a quote, but they said they won't insure me on one, "you need to be 19" or over.

Cheers Jono.

Try elephant, admiral and CIS. All have online quote systems.

How old are you? SRi s group 7 so you should be able to get insurance, it'll just cost you.

he's 18 = 1 yrs ncd if lucky.

You'll find it steep - I tried a couple of the main car compaies just to see what they'd say - 18 yr old 1 yrs nced - 12k a yr mileage on a 1.4 sri with after market alarm and immobaliser - strandard (not modded), living a a respectable area with car in garage and they ALL referred me to the call centres

When you get referred you usually will get a quote but there will be a "loading" which means the underwriters will whack on a surcharge on to you coz youre a high risk for the 1st 12-24 months.

If you do get cover be prepared to pay anywhere in excess of ?1500 for comprehensive and up to ?800+ for 3rd party - depending on your postcode and overnight location.

Your better starting off with a 1.2 or less nowadays.

My SR, which isnt that much different to an SRI is just under a grand to insure. Im coming upto my 19th birthday now so ill have a years ncb, however i did do pass plus to bring the price down

im with norwich union at the minute which seem to be cheap but not if you wanna mod your car

iv had quotes on sri's around about 800 so see what you can find

good luck :)

My SRI insurance is costing me ?1200, but thats with modifications.

I'm 18, with no NCB. Although, the insurance company did take into account that I have 1 year's driving with no claims (named driver), and they wanted proof (old insurance certificate).

Try confused.com, my insurance is with quinn direct.

Mods (all declared) :

Aftermarket Alloys
brakes
engine modifications
exhaust system
cat 1 alarm/imob
Transmission changes (F13 box and performance clutch)
Body changes (GSI bodykit)
(keep in mind that confused.com only allow for 5 or 6 modification "types")

my excess is only ?150, with 10k annual milage and pass plus.

Also no points, or any offence.
