I thought they only ever made a 2.5 V6 red top?

Ste_Nova
19-06-05, 01:11 PM
u just swap ther bottom end for a 3.0 one

Chris
19-06-05, 01:12 PM
they made a 2.5 red top, but it is only a cover, can easily be applied to the 3.0 I would imagine. I have heard they are just as easy to fit as the 2.0 XE

Chris

no... you have to use the 2.5 top end... the 3.0 are all dual ram so the inlet won't fit

That looks really cool in the tight bay. I bet the handling isnt the best.

isn't it all alloy though? 'head and block? - if it is i think it'd be not much more than ya xe's/let's weight wise..

i live in Oldham. Beardy (the legendary wide-arch corsa) with 3.0 v6 turbo(allegedly!) got spanked by me in my company golf gti. it looks sh1te up close as well.....

Big talk about 300bhp............ yeah right! Max power figures if my heavier 200bhp golf f*cks it over!

He buys his Vx parts from the same dealer that I do, and when I saw it recently, there was NO turbo under the bonnet!

Don't beleive all that you read in REVS, and the fibreglass arches have more ripples than a fat bird!

Ben

Had a good look at Beardy's at PV and there is no turbo.

The 3.0l is physically hardly any bigger than the 2.5.

And they are a lot more awkward than fitting the XE trust me!

Ben
19-06-05, 10:33 PM
Also another point, you would be better of fitting a 2.5 V6 with 3.0l cams as the 3.0l engine is very slightly more power but a hell of a lot more unreliable.

And to tune the 2.5 is relatively easy and cheap.

yeah thats right, 2.5 top end, 3.0 bottom, there was a Corsa in TV last year with this conversion. There's several about.

There are a few around but they never look sat straight, am trying hard to work out how to get it to sit straight.

You must be crazy to use the 3.0l bottom ends :!:

I wonder just how difficult it'd be to fit the front end of a car into the rear of another, hence making it rear engined. Saw it done with an RST Escort, would be class in a Nova... Maybe when i get my Garage up.

Ben

Ben (as your a guy in the know) whats the black plastic part down the righ hand side of them V6 engines,it looks like air intake, yet the cone filter is on the other side?? :?

Scott

Ben
21-06-05, 11:58 AM
I believe its a cold air feed, but not really even looked at the V6 engine as yet just more the gearbox and shafts dilemma's

Breeny
21-06-05, 12:09 PM
Its a cooling feed for the alternator as the alternator can get extremely hot.

I love the V6 engines, its not all about outright power sometimes you know lads. They are lovely to drive, nice and smooth.

That car is NOT 3.0, and the nitrous isn't wired up (His mum won't let him, cos it'll invalidate the insurance!) and one of his mates told me that.

Don't beleive all that you read in REVS, and the fibreglass arches have more ripples than a fat bird!

I love People like this
Let me go threw your stated facts you have put....

Big Talk about 300bhp - right where that has come from is a 3lt v6 is about 200bhp and i am running 150bhp of Direct port NOS (25bhp per Cly). i have never ran the car on a RR so do not know the output, all the time people ask (like Revs TV fastcar etc) they ask the engine power and then how much NOS.

He buys his Vx parts - i never buy parts from vauxhall Direct (or very very rare) as they prices are silly, and with my best mate living just around the corner from Autovaux why would i....? THE main thing here is i have NEVER taken my V6 to vauxhall as the car very rare go's out. in the past 12 months it may have done 300miles max (driveing to PVS show etc) the reason for this; is its not a everyday car, aswell i hate my car getting stoine chips or tatty so would rather take it out on sunny days etc, so i dont know how you saw it recently as it hasent been out for about 5 months other that PVS.........

fibreglass arches have more ripples than a fat bird / looks sh1te up close as well - the kit was made for a rally car and shape isent a big factor on rally cars, i have had the car archs fully reshaped and 99% of the ripples taken out, i invite people to come and see the car anytime and you will see the car bodywork is very very good, as i have reshaped it twice to make sure its as good as i can get it aswell as painting the full car twice. i hate my car looking bad which is one of the reasons i do not drive it everyday so ripples would only get me down so why would i have them??

got spanked by me in my company golf gti. - if you do know me (Well you must cos your saying i have shown you my engine at vauxhall) you will know i have NEVER drive the car hard and NEVER raced anything in the car as the engine has anyways been run in at the time i have taken it out, when it was a 2.5 and when it came the 3lt, so this i very much can not see, unless you was racing and i dident know.

there was NO turbo under the bonnet!
right if you would of read everything about my car and the feature the engine WAS going to be Turbo'ed never said it already was, i had got the Turbo off a SAAB V6 Turbo, which i was planning of fitting. I did fit this to see if it would run low boost but blow the head gaskets so took it off, i have now sold this turbo unit to a lad of MIG with a Astra as i have started other projects and deep down inside i knew i would never fit it.
if you look at the REV's you will see me holding the turbo on the top of the page, so i dont know where people have got its already turbo'ed from......

That car is NOT 3.0, and the nitrous isn't wired up (His mum won't let him, cos it'll invalidate the insurance!) and one of his mates told me that.

see picture below of the 3lt V6 i got of Ebay a while back, also some pics of how the turbo fitted to it.
As for "His mum won't let him, cos it'll invalidate the insurance!" why would me mum say anything, i am 25 years old live in my own house with my son and partner i pay my own insurace i really do not understand where your getting this from, whos "my mate" the NOS is down on the insurance, but is only allowed for Track/drag use.

i think you need to grow up and stop trying to look big over the internet as from the above looks like you are talking out of your behind, feel free to message me and we can meet up if you would like to prove me wrong on all the above facts.

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y228/lurk75/Picture174.jpg

As for this
i agree is it bad, the reason for this is i am having problems with my speedo (being elec new F28 etc) and havent got around to soldering them together, as the car was a real push to get together to the PVS show (which the car also broke down on the way)

Ben (as your a guy in the know) whats the black plastic part down the righ hand side of them V6 engines,it looks like air intake, yet the cone filter is on the other side?? :?

Scott

The black tude feels air to a small fan which cools the rear manifold, i have taken this off down to space.

some new pics of the car :-
