building Nova xe exhaust system from scratch???? HELP

Hi all

The lad whos building my nova(c20xe) is going to make me an exhaust system. he has a lenth of stainless exhauss pipe 3" i have asked him to have it straight fromt the manifold to the back box with no boxes at all will it be ok??? will it be ok for power etc? please give your view as i dont want to make a f**k up of it cheers all.

3" is way too big on an XE and its pointless, will rattle on the tunnel, cathc on the beam, 2 1/4" is about right for an XE.

NO boxes at all will imo sound absolue shite, will fail an MOT and get u pulled every 2 mins by the rozzers

u want a backbox and one other box ideally

and 2 to 2 1/4" is about the right size for a standard power XE, upto 2.5" for a highly tuned one (ie >200bhp)

i had 2.5" and one box on mine... fuck me it was loud and raspy... it's on robs spider now and sounds sweet :?
