View Full Version : brakes behind 14inch wheels
right since i'm building a track car i need some good anchors, what brakes will fit behind my wheels, i've asked before but this time i have a pic  .

2.0 ATE's? It's hard to tell from a pic mate! Although they do look like they dont allow for much room. Trial and error i would have thought, or get some 4 pots, they'll fit :D
the pics just there to give a idea about the size really, the only thing is i don't want to be buying new brakes, then find out they don't fit
Well iirc the 2.0 ATE's will fit behind gte/gsi 3 spokes with 6mm spacers, so you could get some and then get spacers if necessary (although that will throw your offset out so not ideal). I think there are some ATE model calipers that were made slightly smaller and will fit behind 3 spokes as standard (although finding a set wouldn't be easy).
you will want atleast 256mm ATE brakes fora track day car else you will get fade every 5 mins!
you might have to get keen with the grinder on the caliper and also fit spacers to clear but its worth it
angle grinder on the caliper :o , hmmmmm bigger wheels? i don't no what to do lol

are they 14's or 13's?
if they are 14's why not take one into a scrapyard and ask the bloke if u can fit it to a 2.0 cav to see if it clears
if it clears then go for it
if not start looking for 250x20mm disks fitted to 1.8 and 1.7td cavs and 1.7td mk3 astras as they should clear most 14's
there 14s mate, that not a bad idea mate, but i was thinking about getting some cav or calibra wheels as there 15s and really cheap

i had 2.0 16v 256mm stuff under 14" sri steels with no probs
for cheapness... 15" vectra spare steels and v6 brakes and some huge brake cooling ducts

Some cav gsi wheels sprayed black would look cool, thats what i am thinking of fitting to my nova when i get it. Pick a set up for about ?100.
you still haven't got the nova mate :?
i like ste's idea though :)

yer i'd go for some vectra or corsa 4-stud 15" steels and get some 288's under there

you need 14" wheels that are 5.5J or over to fit 256mm 2.0 16v behind.
though it can be done less if you use spacers/worn calipers.

mine fitted fine
ive got 2l 16v brakes on my sr and that needed 5mm spacers and a little bit of grinder work to make them fit

Im sure 16v brakes will fit under them wheels. It is only 3 spokes that dnt allow 16v brakes to fit behind. Like said before your best bet is trial fit them.

steel wheels may be different as the rim's will be thinner i imagine.
