making own exhaust

hey guys im just wondering if its possible to make my own backbox and if anyone has done there own ive heard sommit about backpressure loss and is that bad thing ? coz what im thinking is running a tube from where the old box goes and weld a pipe from there to big 5" pipe would it sound rubbish ? thankss

The only way to know if it sounds rubbish is to go ahead and make it. As for Back preaseur, you need some kind of back preasure, you'll loose power otherwise, not just entirely sure to be honest but its a must. Give it a shot, at worst you'll amke a balls of it, so what. You'll have tried anyway sure.
