6x9s on amp

i have got 6x9s on my back shelf but find that the head unit doesn't turn them up loud enough and saw my mates car yesterday with his 6x9s wired to his amp and they sounded sweet. I have a 450watt jbl gto amp and 260 watt jvc 6x9s can i wire these upto my amp or will i blow em.

yes you can wire them up to the amp. just because the amps rated at 450watt an the speaker are rated at 260watts doesnt mean that you have to run them at that. wire them all up, set your crossovers and adjust the gain so it sounds loud enough for you without the sound distorting. if you get any distortion then the speakers are under strain and this is what is likley to damage the voice coil so turn the gain down or adjust he cross overs or do both
