Smetharpe Stages, My first rally **pics**

Right, 5th of June, Smetharpe wildlife stages down in Devon was the aim for my rally car to be ready for. And ready it was!!!

It was peein down all day long, and as i've found out in the past, it stops raining when you go home at the end of the day!
I started at car number 60, obviously it was my first rally so i was put at the back of the bunch! Time to start working my way through them then!!! HEhehe.

Well, cars started dropping out through the day and i noticed me getting higher up the standings and at this stage i was really hoping just for a finish for my first event. Stage 9 came round (10stages in total) and i was about 30th and 3rd in Class A. That made me happy enough but i thought I would push for second in class! But, i was 6 seconds behind 2nd place man.

Went out for stage 10, about a mile before the end of, what was actually a very quick, stage, got caught behind an old MGC GT!! I could not get past him and i thought, right thats it. But i was happy to get a finish.

Hung around for a while to see the results, and low and behold, the last stage was an absolute belter for me which moved me up to 26th position overall (out of 38 finishers) and 2nd in class, 3secs ahead of th guy i wanted to beat! So i pulled 9 secs back in the last stage and i came home with a trophy after my first event!!

i spy a small block XE in there? whats the specs on it?

ive always fancied running rallies like this, what exactly is involved? i assume u need some kinda motorsport licence and need to pay to do it?

any links to websites of info?
