Hey,

My cars just started to over rev at idle. It shoots up to about 2.5K and stays there.
Any idea what could be causing this? Im think of changing the coolant temp sensor, is it located directly under the dizzy in the head?

Its an SRi that I have.

Cheers

Hmm..I had a similar problem with my GTE.

How long at idle does it take? 2 - 3 mins or 20 - 30 seconds?

Mine would start up fine, idle great, then around 2 mins later, she would suddenly shoot up to 2.5K.

My problem was the throttle valve switch/position sensor, so when I touched the wire connected to it, it would suddenly drop revs, or re-rev.. I thought it was the wires, but it was the actual box itself:

on the back of the throttle housin there is a throtle position sensor looks like a black box held in with two screws with wires going into it!
this my need adjusting if not u are looking about ?100+ for a new one!

hope this helps but this problem is verry common on bosch ign systems

---^ that was the problem with mine, I replaced it with a spare I happened to have lying about, and she's working perfect now.

Worth a try anyway, if not, check the post above for other possibles!

Possible air leak, cheak for damaged vacume hoses around the carb.
