I have a mk2 1.2i and i need to change the front speakers. The only thing is, its a pain in the ass to get to the front ones, so, without trying to get to the ones in the dash, (which, even if i change them, they are still on 10cm replcements, which will be poo) can i put my speakers else where, not in the doors though, coz i have no door builds, and don't have a clue to make them etc. So i was thinking, how about the sides of the centre console??, or are there things that would/could interfere with them if they were down there. If its not possible to put them down there, where can i get door build things to hold 15cm speakers, i will have leccy windas by then, so there's no problem with the winders being in the way. Please help me as i don't want pooey standard speaker. :)
thanks

if you have elecy windows you dont really need to worry about door builds (unless you get speakers with massive magnets)

so can i just cut a hole in the door card and put some components in the doors??
would that be ok?

it would be ok but it would never sound as good as a decent set of door pod's

IMHO i think it looks cheap and tacky with the speakers just cut into the door card

true, but for monkeys that want boom boom and no direction, the doors are fine lol

Putting them in the doors is OK as long as you deaden them really well. You can mount the tweeters on the interior door trim for the mirror. I've got Pioneer Emotion 13cm components in my doors.

I am going to build a ported box behind my centre console... loads of room there ...enough volume etc... You must calculate the dimensions of the ports using the paramenters of the loudspeaker in a software package like BassBox,, think about an IB sub bass boost circuit though you wud need the watts to drive it :)
