Rob sent me the pics this morning, its looks amazing. Will be even better when he gets his wide band lambda setup. He can then set it up and run almost full phase 4 boost levels.

i think it's gonna have a vts? locked box and carlton 24v rear lsd

Aragorn
02-06-05, 09:31 PM
the failing point is usually the viscous coupling and VTS locked box and carlton diff dont get round either of these

contrary to popular belief the VTS box isnt a permenant 50:50 split, it simply removes the ecu controlled clutch and the entire system then runs permenant 4x4 rather than ecu controlled 4x4

in my opinion its a silly mod becuase although it bypasses the clutch which can be troublesome, by bypassing the ecu, the failsafes on the box (ie VC temp sender etc) are no longer functional and if the box DOES overheat there will be no disengagement of the 4x4 and box will probably lunch itself

Theres nothing wrong with the old Cavalier/Calibra transfer boxes. If the oils are changed regularly then they very rarely fail.
