right im posting on behalf of my brother.

he took the stereo and speakers out of his GSi to put in his xr2, so we connected it all up, turned it on and there was just NO bass coming from the speaker :?

when the set up was in his GSi they worked and sounded a treat!
ints a jvc headunit and jbl 300w 6x9's

we turned the bass up on the stereo and the treble down but still not mate a differance.

we just dont understand, it used to be well bassy without messing around with the bass on the stereo so...

what ya recon the guys?

cheers, lew

The speakers won't perform any different in a different car, so i would say that there is a wiring problem to the speakers somewhere.
Maybe the connection of the wire to the speaker isn't fully secure.

check to make sure the speakers are in phase. ( the - are going to the - and the + are going to the +) if these havnt been connected right from the head unit and some of the speakers are out of phase the it will cancel the bass.

direct all the sound to come from one speaker (say the rear left) and see if the bass is there then fade it to the right and see if it gets quieter. if so then its a phase problem.

ah i see. we'll check that on the week end then, also i think his car has had a sub at some point as the guy my bro baught it off said that the boot has been sound proffed fo a sub, but i sont no if it has had one in there or not.

if it has had one in there before could that be why it has no bass aswell?

alright cool. i couldnt believe how many modded cars there were just in tesco car park. then there were more over the road in the pub car park!

right we tryed that and had no luck so were in the middle of re-wireing most of it.

but you know were that black plug thing plugs into the back of the stereo, the it has wires, then goes to another black box thing where it connects to another box, well there is an orange wire that says 'power antenna' on and its been cut.

so obviosly the radio doesnt work. but we didnt cut it so we dont know what to connect it too. any one know??

cheers so much, lew

THE POSITIVE (+) AND THE NEGATIVE (-) SPEAKER WIRES ARE PROBABLY ON WRONG WAY ROUND, JUST SWAP THEM ROUND ON EACH SPEAKER
