I've had my electric windows in and working for a while, i've also had my solenoids riveted in, and i finally got round to wiring the CL side of the loom up today.

However, i've encoutered a problem !

When i lock the drivers door, it opens the passengers side.

And when i open the drivers door, it locks the passengers side.

Here are some pictures of the Loom and wiring. The kit was bought from colin smith (hmmmmmmm)the loom was a complete mess and had a "total closure" alarm system fitted to it, so i've had to reconnect all the wires (roughly for now)

This shows, the Earth connected (the peice of red wire arouned the screw into the floorplan - had to extend the old brown wire, and red was the only colour i had), the leccy windows wired in (they work absolutly fine) I however, have this redundant yellow spaded wire ? i presume this is part of the old alarm system that was bodged in.

This is a picuture of the loom entering the drivers door, wires matched colour for colour

This is a picture of the leccy window connector, fits nicely and works fine !

Down at the solenoid, there are 3 wires connected colour for colour, but there are two of these black/yellow and red/yellow wires that have no connected onto the loom ? (these colours feature on the passenger side - could this be redundant wires incase it was used in a lefthand drive version ?)

again same set of pics, all connected up colour for colour, no redundant wires

ECU connection, no redundant wires, all connected colour for colour ?

Sorry for the long post, can anyone suggest a reason as to why this is happening ? it sometimes stops working untill you turn the ignition on and then try operating the doors. could it be a faulty ECU ?

Thanks nick

sounds like the motor on passenger side is connected in reverse polarity

assuming this is the standard vauxhall system and doesnt have extra motors wired into drivers side for totaly closure?

im not totally familiar with the vauxhall central locking setup but can u detail what wires goto each door and wether the loom looks factory or not (the fact u said there was 2 extra wires on drivers side seems to suggest someones wired it for total closure at some point which means its not stnadard vauxhall wiring

ok that sounds a logical suggestion...

the passenger side motor loom is still on it's original plug, and the plug only fits in one way .

the two wires are a Black/yellow and a black/red, should i just swap the connection for these wires around and see what happens ? they could have easily been swapped pin for pin on the plug by someone who fitted the alarm

The kit also came with an additional aftermarket solenoid, which i presume was used to drag the driverside pin down when the alarm went off, thus shutting the drivers and passengers door.

ok im thinking it may actually be the signal wires on the drivers side that are the wrong way round then

u have 2 wires to the motor on passenger side and 3 wires to drivers side right?

try flipping the wires to the drivers switch (not the ground) and see if that sorts it

rightio, cheers aragorn

i'l have a look today.

however it's decided to stop working, and also my "lights-on" bulb on the digidash has stopped coming on, also the lights warning buzzer has stopped working.

i've checked all the fuses in the fuebox and they're all ok.

I did take the perm live from a "redundant" (well at least i think it was) 15 slot on the far right of the fusebox (funny shaped socket)

I just cut the wire from the back of the pin and connected it to my perm live wire on the loom !

any suggestions ?

This is how the drivers side plugs are wired as standard

sorry i cant help any more, just check that yours are wired the same and not been modified.

Are them connector blocks rusty?
Try changing them for new ones and check the wires are clean :?:
