Recently ive been on a trackday and gave my car car a real good hammering. ever since it stinks of petrol inside the engine bay. So ive had a quick look this morning and found where the petrol is leaking. Its coming from the hole between the two ports on the back of the carb (manifold side).
Basically i just wondered if any one had ever come across this, and what they did to repair? can the carb be stripped in situe? I think its coming from the accelerator pump.
Any help appreciated

isnt that the choke?
im sure its possible to simply remove and blank it off if it is the choke

the choke is above where its leaking. i don't use the chokes either. it only drips fuel when reving, thats why i thought accelerator pump
Not sure without a pic. Check the float heights. Do you have a fuel pressure regulator?
Are they Dellortos or Webers? On dellortos the accelerator pump is underneath the carb.

not sure what part 80 is but there is a gasket (part 41/81) which appears to seal it, perhaps thats perished?
do u have a key for the diagram? so we can tell exactly what cover 80 is for?

ok found the key
80 is "inspection cover"
41 is Pump Cover Gasket
81 is Gasket
41 and 81 are the same part soooo im guessing thats the leak?
41/81 - 41640.021
80 - 52135.024

I don't have that cover on either carb. its just an inspection cover so its not there to stop petrol leaking i don't think. 1 of my carb's is fine and that dosen't have the cover. :?
prehaps the top gasket has gone inside the carb and its causing the leak into the accel pump lever.

gasket No. ? Could i change it in situe?
number 7
its easy to change but im guessing that you will need to take the throttle linkage off so be carefull!

the choke mechanism has a habit of doing this.. take it out and braze it up
but its not where you suggest its coming from
you shoulndt have fuel down in there.. id suggest its not coming from there, it just looks like it as thats lowest point of carb as fitted

Which bit do you braze, all the working mechanism?
Had another look yesterday and sometimes it squirts from inside that hole when giving it some throttle! :? I really hope the casing hasn't cracked, can this be possible
