First of this might have been posted loads but im not looking through the dam back post for it..

Ok as some of you know i had a slight misshap with my engine last mounth, well affter the head was rebuild and now been running the car for a few weeks i did notice that there is a nice little rattle(belived to be synchromesh problem) as i hit 90mph from therd to second by mistake,so as at some point(next few weeks etc) i will be looking to replace it i was just wondering what the pro's and cons are of both box's,as im looking for one to rebuild and get it modid maby just for sprint not so much top end etc.

Cheers for any help in advance.

the box codes have nothing to do with the gearing

all F20's are CR355
F16's come in a whole host of varieties including WR and CR versions with 3.55, 3.74, 3.94 and 4.18 final drives

http://kevingalloway.myby.co.uk/gearbox%20graph.xls

if u get that and load it up, input your tyres etc and u can set the final drive and choose the box type at the bottom

look at the graphs of each gear and decide what u want from a box

Well think im going to have to use another F20 as i dont think the F16 will be able to take the sort of power im looking to push soon..

i think the f20 is the best box for a xe, iv had f16/f18's in the past and dont think they as good as the f20.

ive just said the box code has nothing to do with it

corsa gsi F15 has CR355 same as an F20 (well some have CR374 like the nova GTE)

my F15 has WR355 as it came from a diesel van

gsi one would do 145 in 5th (135ish for the CR374 varient), mine would do 185 in 5th if the engine was powerful enough

totally different boxes

u can probably even get an F16 or F18 with the same CR355 as the F20
