To the Good People of Novaload net

I've just fitted a high lift cam a 270deg and it runs but doesn't like to idel infact I only got it to idle by twiddling with the tick over and power boost valve.

Any comments thoughts would be greatly appreaciated.

Many Thanks!

What make is the cam and what degree is the standard cam in a Gte?

check you ignition timing.

a 270 deg cam will idle like a pussy cat.

even 310s will idle properly when setup correctly

even with std air flow sensor and management?

id have thought that the engine will seriously not like a "wild" cam on std management due to overlaps etc causing pulses of air to become staionary in the air flow sensor etc yada yada yada

duration has nothing to do with it,

its the lobe centre angle that determines if it'll work with an AF meter.

group A cars had one and a cam with 309 deg

I'm having the same difficulties with my 1400. Its just been fitted with a Kent 270deg Cam and wont idle below 2000rpm and even then while idling it revs up to 2500 and down to 1700rpm without being touched. I even switched from spi to carbs and its still no better.

You've probably retarded the cam timing by one or two teeth if it won't idle. Especailly if you've switched to carbs and have same problem.
