went to my car today (just put a new sri engine in) and it started fine ran ok for a bit but now it runs like a back of sh*t, really lumpy wont tick over only runs when u rev it, it like its running on 3 but its not (really lumpy) took plugs out all good sparks but they all seemed to be black sooty. anyone any ideas what this could be, could a sensor have gone or something? im baffled.

if u have in idle control valve it could not be working causing the engine to go lean and not run properly at idle

Check your bottom pulley to see if its slack.
If it is then the crank position sensor won't be getting the correct signal and it will run bad.

cheers, does anyone know what colours the wires are that go to the crank pos sensor?

The crank sensor wire is about 8mm thick or so and its black. It will go from your loom to behind the bottom pulley, it mounts to the oil pump.

Do all sri's have diss pacc and crank sensors?? Or is it like the gsi and only the last ones had it?

If thats the case then he could be looking for the crank sensor for along time then lol!!

Have a look at the inside of the distributor and plugs. Possibly the idle control valve needing a clean if its not idling. But possibly not if the trouble has just started!!

My Sri has dizzy and coil but it defo has crank sensor as well.

all sri have crank sensor and internal ecu... the dizzy is just spreading the sparks... no other wires going to it
