it doesent have to be there, but if there is one there, it needs to have legal tred
ahh i thought it was an insurance neccasary (sp)
I have seen a pipe bent around the spare wheel well, but it was very tight and I'm not sure it helped getting the gases out of the car.
I had my spare wheel well removed by a bodyshop. They welded a piece of metal in place and also strengthend underneath.

yep, as said i'd invest in some strengthening.
As a well, it provides alot more structure to the boot floor, replacing it with a welded sheet of metal is significantly weakening the structure between the rear arches.
Also as jim said about bending pipes round the well, i think you'd encounter some problems with it knocking by doing that, the worse thing you'd want is two pipes tapping against the wheel well.
ill have to find a garage or a friend with a welder and some steel to help me out it seems
cheers tho guys :D
watch this space for if it goes ahead lol
