Right, a wheel bearing welded itself to my stub axel. I was short of time as i was away working all week, so i trusted a garage to change the Stub axel.

I bought a stub axel from a breakers, with a complete hub, bearing e.t.c and it was fitted, however the bearing wasn't soo brilliant and one of the threads in the hub was stripped.

as soon as this was changed there is a knocking/clicking/clunking sounds coming from the rear right hub area. Noticeable mainly on smaller bumps in short sucsession, but it makes the noise most of the time on any bump.

I thought it could be a bearing problem, so as i need it anyway, i ordered a brand new hub. and fitted that, along with the bearing, fitted the them, and it still makes this clunking noise

Anyone got any suggestions before i start taking the stub axel off again ? outside it sounds like a tapping/clicky/clunk.

The chap did say he had to knock the hell out of the backplate to get the hub off, so he thinks it could be that that is bent and knocking on the rear of the drum ?

it can't be the drum itself, nor the bearing.

Thanks nick

Could it be that your stub axle bolts are not tight?? I think your ment to use loctite. I just did them very very tight. I will soon see if they get loose!! :o

I take it its not the pads that just need to settle in the drum? Maybe as the chap said the back plate could be bent and not making a good contact??
