what do i need

Ive got a sony 4000r or something. its a cd and tuner with 4x50w. I want to have two 10inch xplod 400w subs, 4 sony 6x9s 3 way 180w and 2 13cm 2 way 120ws. I know nothing about ice so will i need an amp and will it all work. yes i know im thick but what are tweeters and what does 2 and three way mean?

yes you will need an amp, as your headunit has 4 outputs, and your trying to run 8 outputs.

use a amp to run your subs from the preout you should have on your unit, and get ONE rear set of 6x9s, PLENTY loud enuff! power them off your rear output and power your 2ways off the front.

tweeters deal with all the high pitch sounds and frequencies only, i.e singin or high tones, they need to be used with a crossover or a filter on an amp to stop the low tones gettin to em.

2 way and 3 way if you like are how the speakers is divided up, i.e 3 way 6x9 has the 6x9 overall shape and big cone as a woofer, also inside is a tweeter and also a small thing for mid range.
