what does PMPO stand for?

for instance..... jensen 6x9s on maplins theres a pair of 180w PMPO and theres a pair of 200w "maximum power handling"

the 200w are ?10 more expensive, but are the PMPO ones better?

dont particulary intend to buy a pair, just wondered what the diff was n whether really dearer was betta?

cheers all

Peak Maximum Power Output. BUT this figure can be obtiained from a very dodgy calculation. if you read in "What Hi-Fi" etc they explain that PMPO is a very very very poor way to rate the output because its more or less made up. roughly with PMPO you should halve it to get the "real" max out and then halve again to get your suitable amp :)

Maximum power handling is a better statement of its abilities.

Dave Pearce, hmm he mixes like a man with no hands

MPO is the square root of 2 times the power in RMS watts.
PMPO is the sqaure root of 2 times the power in MPO watts.
So it like pussy version of watts that companys use to make there systems sound powerfull.
Put it this way. My denon 40 watt RMS system is so much better_louder than my sisters 500watt (PMPO) kenwood unit!!
