2l 16v nova gear linkage

how do people solve the problem with the gear linkage problem on a 16v nova. been told you have to get a cav linkage, cut it and weld onto part of the origonal nova linkage. is this the only way around it or has any one got an easyier way. any pictures would be very helpful

from what i have been told you can use part 16v linkage and part of the origional.
i think you have to take a pin out on the gearbox and turn a plastic bush around the other way if that makes any sense.

What problem, the sloppyness or the fact it wont reach unless you turn the plastic arond 180 degreese
