10 years and 1 month, An End to my Nova Era !
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've just come to an end of my own personal motoring era, After just over 10 years of nova ownership, working my way through 7 novas, with almost every engine upto a 2.0 16v I've had to retire my recent nova due to the onset of rust, an MOT due in 2 weeks, and a feeling of needing a change, it feels a bit like putting down a dog,
With getting older and entering my last year at Uni, I've lost the enthusiasm, time, and garage space for working on my car at all hours of the night and in the rain etc to keep it maintained.
So in my newfound old man wisdom, I've gone for a comfy, air conditioned (hopefully it'll work after a regas!) smooth, and generally better equipped car for my needs, I do quite a few motorway miles and just wanted something quiter and comfier . After quite a bit of looking, and trying to find a decent phase 2 astra sport 2.0 16v 3 door with air con, I found one in Chichester, wasnt too keen on it being white, but it looked like a goodun. Only a 600 mile round trip , so stopped at my parents overnight in Luton, and then set off at off at 5 the next morning to look at the car,
Got to the car, and was pleased as it was as genuine and immaculate as described, exchanged cash and enjoyed the drive home.
It will be sad to break up the nova next weekend, but at least I can say I've been there done that and had a real good laugh too,
Anyone else get these feelings when you've had a car for ages and it feels like an end of an era? Might be back one day with another nova, time will tell!
Heres some pics of my new astra.
