X-plode Gear, any good?

I know its cheao, but does this mean its no good? I've a pair of 250watt 6x9's and i'm quite happy with them. Its my first install and i'm on a budget too, any ideas?

It depends who you ask
if you ask me i say they are pretty good, i got 2 12" sony Xplod subs, and they are good.

But if you ask someone thats seriously into high end ICE then they will say its crap.

If your on a budget i would recommend Sony, better than SPLX etc anyway :wink:

i'm running a pari of splx 6x9's on my shelf off the head unit and they don't sound too bad. then again i have got them on a stealth shelf with a really heavy sound board on. 18mm ply. not bad for the money. it's a car so it's never gonna sound that good.

i run Cirrus and B&W gear in the house and an opus 15k rig live, ICE will never live up to that sort of gear

Just found out that my local car boot sale has a guy that sells shit loads od Good Quality gear from Sony, JVC and Alpine dead cheap and its all band new as well. Still undecided weather to kit the Wee Devil out with ICE of take it all out altogether.

For a budget Sony and splx subs are good. But you might aswell spend a little more and get some decision speakers like Infinity reference speakers are good and are only 45quid. Baut if you are serious about ICE but are a budget go and get some Vibe black air subs or Alpine Tpre R subs for the price the quality is amazing.

Someone said JBL and i agree. My JBL 6x9s were much cheaper than sony rivals and nothing touches them. ?30 i paid on the net and they are brill!

Just upgraded to Alpine head unit n 6 disc changer too, courtesy of my dad :D

The JBL 6x9 arent that bad for the price, but id rather pay a tenner more and get some infinity 9603i 6x9 cracking sound quality and if you arent running a sub they give you a nice bass rumble.

Yes the infinty stuff is very good, not heard any without sub though, my mate has a full install but with sub so his 6x9s are set to produce no bass you see

i dont like sony stuff tbh, its not just not good value for money, jbl makes good value stuff

sony are capable of making good gear they have done in the past and they also have some of the worlds leading technology and engineers but even after promising to produce better gear they have come up trumps

its a flooded market at the moment and with so much choice i wouldnt choose sony, there are to many other options for the money

the new ones are and even the some of the old ones are, look at the specs, there even built on the same chassis and bothe made by the harmon group

i'd recommend JBL stuff, if your on a tight budget then it's perfect good volume, decent quality, and the 1000 subs are a bargain, won't get more bass for your cash then them!!!

If you want a cheap install, why not try mutant? really cheap and gets damn good reviews considering it's budget stuff 8)

Cant knock mutant for the price. Jbl subs are shit. Everyone goes on about how good they are coz there in all the motorworld shops but imo they are crap. Kenwood Tornado subs are good if there powered by a good amp.

iv had xploed 6x9's and front door speakers, thought they wuz rubbish. JBL are far far far better! and they dont cost much.go to motor world for them, but watch out coz they talk rubbish.
