I have a set of EP 189 cams for a C20XE engine. The person I bought them from can't remember if they where the set that he had that needed the pistons pocketed. He went through a few cams until he found a setup that suited him.

Im quite sure they do need pocketed pistons but im not sure.

Also I would be intrested to know what sort of bhp they would produce on a otherwise standard XE with throttle bodies and a MBE management system.

I could phone up our local engine builder but at this stage im just weighing up if its worth putting them in my spare engine or just selling them on.

Any info would be greatly apprciated.

what lift are they supposed to be.

I would suggest that the pistons Will need to be pocketed, any decent cam in a 16v xe when timed properly will have valve to piston problems.

And depending on the lift at TDC they will probably make 200hp if you lift the compression and map it properly on MBE (which is an ok system as long as you arent looked out at level3)

Get them pocketed anyway, better safe than sorry... or pregnant. But i dont think its an issue here!!
