Razors - How long should they last??

First ride out was a bit scary :o how long should the blade last before replacement?!

I last for at least 43 seconds, on a good day I've been known to go on for as much as 57 seconds

id say about 5-7 shaves per blade.

and with my annual wet shave number now down to 2 per year one pack lasts me ages lol

I shave every day with the M3.. I change the blade every 7 days.

The longer you leave it between shaving, the more blunt the blade gets..

mine lasted one shave :o but that was when i took 30mins to shave me beard off!
usually 2-3 weeks before it gets blunt....and as epo said it depends if the missus uses it!!!

I uses a Mach 3

and i can honestly say that I probably only use the blades twice and normally shave once every 3-4 days.

I hate shaving anyway but i hate it even more when its not a new blade.

i use a cut throat at the moment :lol: last a few weeks shaving twice a week

/\ cut throats should last longer than that! You are meant to re-use/resharpen them. Also wit cut-throats you are meant to have two and let the blade rest by alternating which one you use to shave with. You also need a stirup to resharpen. Also dont sneeze while shaving with one.

Blades usually last 3-4 shaves with me and that i with my course facial hair.

I need practice with this thing, can't get it to go as close as disposables yet :? the head/blades are all mounted and movable and I can't apply any pressure or change the angle of the blades to get a well close contact, havn't cut myself yet though :lol:

Fuck it, going against the grain tomorrow, need smooth!

say you shave 3 times a week (which is low) and you use a razor like mach3 etc. 6 pack blades = almost ?7. Each blade therefore is ?1.17.
52 weeks in a year. 52*3=156 shaves

156 shaves = ?182.56 :o

Im a lazy bugger so i normal do this also,or just let it grow..

In fact im sure the short i leve between shaves the more harsh it is as there is not so much to shave off,so the longer i leave it (four or more days)the more you have to shave meaning less as a harsh plucking sesation.

Im sure on the normal MK3 razor it has a blue lube strip on it,and i think you can use this also to gage the amount of life left on them..

This same razor was bought for me for christmas. You dont feel any shocks when its switched on, but tbh, i prefer it switched off as i find i have more control, dont ask me why, lol.

I shave when i can be bothered or when it gets to that point when it really starts to itch, lol. I've never measured how long the blades last, but im a cheap git so will make them last as long as possible, lol.

I found the best way of avoiding any cuts and "plucking" as you all call it is to keep your skin as wet as possible, even if that means re-washing your face and re-applying the shaving foam half way through the shave.

For those of you that let your mrs use your razor...gets some balls and tell her to get her own, lol.

although i rarely wet shave anymore when i do, this is my procedure

Pre shower
trim down the longer hair with a beard trimmer or electric razor
always use wamr water to moisten yer face
Apply shaving oil (i prefer king of shaves as sported by fest on my recomendation)
apply shaving gel (i find foam to be crap)
with the water near boiling (or rather hot as the tap will supply) rinse the blade and start to shave
obv your own techniquei is used, my facial hair is bizzar so i have to go in all directions to get one patch of hair on me neck lol

once shaved get a flannel and rinse in the uber hot water (carefull of your hands) and then dab your face with it, holding over your shaved areas.
repeast till your face is gel residue free.

Jump in the shower and wash off the excess goo.

and most of all moisturise after!!


i get bastid bad ingrowing hairs a day after my shaves so i dont do it often.

i only shave a couple of times aweek due to the be arsed factor it depends when am off to my mates house or off out to the pub with him and i dont wanna look like a scruff
otherwise i just let it grow i find with been married for fours years you can start to let yourself go :lol: :lol:
