basically:

1400sri head to lower compression and allow fitment of MPI manifold
turbo adaptor flange for exhaust manifold
programmable management (ie DTA,MBE or unichip)
boost pipework and intercooler

and a decent bottom end rebuild with the uaual rob bolts, deseamed rods etc.

you'd be looking at about ?2K to do it semi right. And you wont see "much" power for that ?2K either! youd get prehaps 130-140bhp if you really go for it big time.

Also the massive insurance hike will be worse than fitting say a 1.6 or similar.

to be fair i'd expect a standard bottom end to be alright upto around 150bhp, the conrods are the same as 1600 ones, crank is a 1400sr item and bearings are the same too, so the main load bearing components are proven to be reliable in lots of other engines (plenty 1.6 t40's running 140-150bhp as you well know)

and yes the power wouldnt be that great but it sure is different :P

and 1200 or not 140-150bhp isnt to be grumbled about in a nova

unless hes serious about not caring about "wasting" money on a 1200 (such as i am) then its a futile task.

If its just a flash in the pan idea to get a bit more go for a short time before getting a 1.6 then its a total waste of time and money.

yer thats true, cus iv been thinking of turboing my SR, but thought nah, soon i'll want a 1.6, so im going to do it to a 1.6 in bout a years time when im ready for one. instead of wasting money on putting one on my SR.
