8v to 16v

this is not for me, before anybody asks, its for a mate with a nova 1400 8v :roll:


all i want to know is will the head off the 16v fit onto the 8v block?

what about on the 1300 nova block and 1600 nova block?


i know theres something about the bottom pully but thats all :roll:

i dont no for sure but as far as im aware they have different pistons aswell but like i say dont quote me on that.

Yep pistons will need changing aswell. Isn't it just easier and cheaper doing an engine swap :idea:

you'd need to convert the whoe cambelt end of the engine to suit the 16V setup. its a lot of money iirc.

just get a 1400 16V engine lol

well looking at my 16v with the crank-alternator pulley removed the bottom pulley looks just like a 1600 8v one

the oil pump is the same partnumber too iirc and the only difference is the idler pulleys, im sure the threads are already there for them however so they shouldnt be too much of a problem either

crank sensor just bolts onto the oil pump

head fits on but u need to fit the correct 16v pistons

it is doable but i'd only bother if i had a complete 16v engine which had a blown bottom end or summat and had a 8v varient of the same engine to use as spares

it would be nice to see a 1.3 16v engine, how much more power it wopuld give. tri a head from a 1.3 engine 16v from abarth :P

the easiest and cheapest option for a 1.3 16v in a nova is a swift GTi engine 8)

thats right, it a shame vauxhall/opel that they finished whit the 1.3 engine
