Welding

Got a MOT report for my runabout Corsa SRi and it needs the following.

Considering this car cost me ?100 and spending ??? getting it fixed would still be worth it

Now are these problems easy to rectify? Considering my 1985 C-reg Nova has never needed any welding I'm not an expert on it so thought I would ask you lot whether its possible to repair by a competent bodyshop

Considering this is a M-reg Corsa its pretty rotten must have been sitting in a 2 foot deep puddle for a year or something

Rack & pinion mounting points rusted
Rear coil spring mounts rusted through within 30cms
OSF suspension top mounting point rusted within 30cms
NSF chassis rusted through 30cms
OSF front mounting points
NS outer sill rusted through
OS & NS rear inner arch to sill rusted through

OSR brake (can't read it)
Brake master cylinder mounting point rusty

sounds like a shed mate

buy another shell (perhaps with a duff engine) and swap everything onto it

i seriously wouldnt entertain a shell that rotten

Its to be a project and I have the time to do it so might as well repair it. People restore cars in worse condition than this.

well if your doing the welding and its not costing u anything and your confident enough to be able to fix it strongly enough then go for it

but thats nearly every main structural component has holes in it

what exactly are u wanting from the car tho?

if its something to do up and sell and make some money on then fair enough, but would you really trust that car going fast round corners?

Its more of a runabout for the missus, a car she can use to take to work as hers has just had a lot of work done to it and she works in a school so does not want her car getting dents etc in it.

And for going shopping, popping to the shops etc.

Its not going to be used for rallying :lol:

when i had the welding done on my car it cost ?110 to do
rear spring seats on both sides,
5 holes that the mot git poked through the sills
and one rear inner wing

so i would guestimate that it would cost up to ?200 to do all the jobs on ur corsa, depnding where u take it

How big were the holes in the sills mate??
I know thats gonna be a failure on my car.
