right heres a hard one
which is lighter
mk1 frontend with GTE bumper
or
mk2 with Gsi bumper
the difference is probably within 1kg
I would go with Mk2.
Although i seriously doubt it will alter the performance of the car

you'd be able to lose more weight by taking a big dump before getting in the car

Lol!
I should imagine the mk2 is better for aerodynamics! Not that Novas are exactly round, The weight would be around the same.
take the carridge bar away totaly and just make up a brace to hold the front of the bumper in place.
Ditch the bumper full stop
Or, build a fibreglass one if you NEED a bumper (MOT? etc)

bet you had to have a change of clothes after that one
i was thinking off getting rid of the bumper iron, you'd loose some weight then
or you could do what some idiot did with my old 5turbo and make the front end out of wood wtf???????
